At the Mobile World Congress, Huawei has introduced the first commercial terminal with Huawei 5g of customer Premises Equipment (CPE), which supports the globally recognized 3GPP telecommunications standard for 5g. The device sets a milestone for Huawei to set the course for the next generation of wireless connectivity.
To ensure maximum performance of the 5g CPE, Huawei uses its own developed Balong 5G01 chipset – The world’s first chipset, which supports the 3GPP standard for 5g with possible downlink speeds of up to 2.3 Gbit/s. The router supports 5g in all frequency bands, including sub-6 GHz and Millimeter Waves (mmWave). It provides an extensive 5g solution for different application scenarios. The Balong 5G01 makes Huawei the first company to have a continuous 5g solution in its portfolio with its network, device and chipset functions.
“5g technology is the next leap in innovation in an intelligent world where people, vehicles, houses and devices are fully interconnected and share information with each other,” says Richard Yu, CEO of the Huawei Consumer business group. “Since 2009, we have invested 600 million US dollars in the research and development of 5g technologies and are leading with innovations in the areas of network architecture, frequency utilization, field verification and more. From networked vehicles and intelligent homes to AR/VR and hologram videos – we want to develop a mature 5g ecosystem. So consumers benefit from a truly networked world and we improve the way they communicate and share information. ”
The 5g CPE has two modes: one for low frequency (sub-6GHz) and one for high frequency (MmWave), is small and light, compatible with 4g and 5g networks. With a measured downlink speed of up to 2 Gbit/s It is more than twenty times as fast as 100 Mbit/s fiberglass. VR videos and games, movies or series can be downloaded or streamed in seconds. The Huawei High frequency 5g CPE is available both for indoor and outdoor applications.
Huawei Press Release
5g networks set new standards for high-speed wireless connections, large bandwidth and low latency, with a maximum downlink rate of 20 Gbit/s, support for one million devices per square kilometer, and a latency of up to 0.5 ms Ascending. 5g opens up greater possibilities for an improved connection between people and the Internet, as well as the type and amount of data exchanged between them.
The Huawei Consumer business Group has developed a 5g product strategy that uses the high-speed, low-latency and big-connectivity qualities of 5g to create richer, more diverse experiences for users. The strategy includes, among other things, smart phones, mobile WLAN and industrial modules for connecting people and objects in their homes, vehicles and the like.
Huawei collaborates with over 30 global telecommunications partners worldwide, including Vodafone, Softbank, T-Mobile, BT, Telefonica, China Mobile and China Telecom, and began to test 2017 commercial 5g networks with partners to develop the industry and to complete interoperability testing. 2018, the company will be the first products for future commercial 5g networks.
